Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten will team together to make May Day baskets for the residents of Morning Star Senior Living Center in Arvada. Mrs. Ondrusek’s parents are residents there. The work of mercy that applies to this project, is to bring comfort to the elderly. We will complete this project the week of April 27th, so that Mrs. Ondrusek can drop them off in time for May Day!
In the Spring, Kindergarten will be following in the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi as they help to clean up the environment around our campus. They will be taking care of the animals and their homes by picking up trash and lost items and placing them where they belong. Students will be paired up while they tackle different tasks and areas.
As followers of Jesus Christ, the First Grade classes and their 8th grade buddies demonstrated care and concern for those in the community by making St. Valentine’s Day cards for the residents of Mullen Home.
For their Spring Stewardship project, the Second Grade practiced the virtues of gratitude and thankfulness. The students wrote thank you letters to all the donors who participated in the Children's Hospital blood drive that took place at Our Lady of Fatima during Catholic Schools Week. As Christians we should express our thankful appreciation in word or deed to persons whose words or actions have benefited us in some way.
Third Grade will be pen pals with another 3rd grade class from Our Lady of Fatima in Hopewell, Pennsylvania. During Catholic Schools Week, they reached out to us, wanting to connect with other Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Schools within the United States and Canada. This is a great opportunity for our students to talk to other kids around the country and learn about their cultures, perspectives, and their faith. We will be corresponding through letters and discussing our classroom and school cultures.
This Lenten season, Fourth Grade is partnering with Soles4Souls, a nonprofit that creates sustainable jobs and provides relief to poverty through the distribution of shoes around the world. Soles4Souls accepts all types of new and gently worn shoes including athletic, dress, sandals, pumps, heels, work boots, and dance shoes. Donation boxes will be located in the Parish office and the main school entrance from February 26 - April 9.
Fifth and Sixth Grades will be holding a drive collecting items such as deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, new socks, Chapstick, shampoo and conditioner, lotion, and Kleenex to help the Samaritan House. The Samaritan House helps to house the homeless, give to the poor, and feed the hungry. The drive will be held from May 1 - May 15.
Seventh Grade students will be collaborating with the organization “Food for the Poor” throughout the month of March to collect various school supplies. These supplies will then be sent to children in need in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Eighth Graders will continue with Corporal Works of Mercy for Stewardship. They include, but are not limited to:
